About the event
A man tries to move on but a building won't let him.
Beats in Colored Town follows a former Negro Patrolman on his life journey.. a journey that inadvertently leads him to his unknown life mission and ancestral quest. The film traces his quiet inner pull to remember, to return and to protect a place that once protected so many.
Join Lt. McKay as he embarks on his life assignment, navigating an unfinished feeling; drawing him back to a place that shaped Black service, Colored Protection and Negro Dignity.
See Negro Patrolmen serve their community during segregation, build botherhood, navigate a growing institution, and the quiet erasure after integration, on screen like never before.
Join us in 2026 for the premiere screening.
